Famous performers, artists, together with government and community leaders, join forces to tackle tuberculosis in Ukraine

Yesterday, a large-scale information event #Have_Power took place with the participation of famous Ukrainian artists, public and state figures, representatives of international organizations.

The information initiative aims to draw the attention of the general public and government officials to the issue of combating the tuberculosis epidemic.

The initiative of #Have_Power was joined by theater artists Olena Grebenyuk, Oleksandra Kravchenko, Georgy Nechayev, designer Alena Serebrova, composer Dmitry Olenich, Oleksandra Morozova, Vira Bagrynets, Tymofiy Boichenko, Kseniya Elikutvich, Elksutvar, Elsutvar Elkutov, Elsutvar, Elsutvar Rehrik and Gregory Herman.

During the concert, the performers were reminded of the important role of every citizen in the fight against the disease, and called on public and political figures to unite and work together to solve the problem.

Especially for the Partnership “Stop TB. Ukraine” poet Dmytro Olenich wrote the song “I Have Power”, which became the anthem of this event and further campaigns in the fight against tuberculosis. This is a song about the importance for each of us to “have the strength” to support the sick and take care of their health.

“On behalf of the organizers, I would like to thank everyone who supported the” May Strength “campaign and this event. It is now time to join forces to drive decisive change. A window of opportunity is open for us to take advantage of. New quick methods have emerged diagnostics, new drugs and regimens, proven safety and efficacy of outpatient treatment.the community provides support and clear strategic recommendations to achieve our goal of completely eliminating tuberculosis in Ukraine,” – Yevgeniyа Kuvshinovа, Director of Convictus Ukraine, said in a speech.

The event was also attended by representatives of state bodies, including First Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Andriy Semivolos, Member of Parliament of Ukraine Lada Bulakh, Head of the Center for Public Health of Ukraine Volodymyr Kurpita. Representatives of non-governmental and international organizations – regional advisor to the Stop TB Partnership Secretariat Andrey Mashniaga, executive director of the ICF “Alliance of Public Health Andrey Klepikov”, heads of national public organizations, doctors, patients, artists, journalists, representatives of national ministries, institutions and ministries of Justice of Ukraine, Kyiv City Center of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth, Kyiv City Center of Public Health, Probation of Ukraine, Probation of Ukraine in the Kiev region.

The photo exhibition “Tuberculosis through the Eyes of the Patient”, created by the patient community TBpeopleUkraine, was presented, and the vision of overcoming the disease from patients was voiced by Olya Klimenko. The photo exhibition tells the stories of people who have managed to overcome the disease, demonstrates the real result of a successful outpatient model for the treatment of tuberculosis patients in Ukraine, and at the same time highlights the difficulties of long-term treatment in TB dispensaries.

The main idea of the #Have_Power initiative is to change the attitude to tuberculosis as a problem, to attract the attention of decision-makers, to ensure that patient-centered approaches to the organization of tuberculosis are managed, to ensure early detection of tuberculosis and its high efficiency. We have the opportunity to create a tuberculosis-free future for our children, and this opportunity must be used immediately!
