Health center in Kyiv region received the equipment to deliver mobile diagnostic services

A NISSAN QASHQAI and an FDR Xair (XD2000) portable X-ray unit (FUJIFILM, Japan) were delivered to the Kyiv Regional TB Center located in Boyarka. Besides, the center received a renovated and modernized X-ray mobile van with modern digital X-ray equipment.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale russian invasion affected the tuberculosis (TB) detection rates in Ukraine. During the war, the issue of TB detection has become even more urgent. That is why it is important that international partners support local health facilities to address this issue.

The mobile van will allow to:

– arrange the visits of multidisciplinary teams in the region and offer X-ray screening to detect TB in the risk populations at early stages;

– deliver sputum and other bio materials for TB diagnosis;

– deliver medicines;

– arrange the visits of health professionals to local communities as well as monitoring visits.

Our organization will ensure relevant activities in the Kyiv region in cooperation with the Kyiv Regional TB Center within the project “Active detection on new TB cases in risk populations with a mobile X-ray van.” The joint efforts of the health facility and Convictus Ukraine will allow to carry out the required examinations among the target groups and refer people to treatment if necessary.

We would like to thank representatives of the local authorities, who were present at the ceremony to deliver the equipment: Vitaliy Vlasiuk, Deputy Head of the Military and Civil Administration in Kyiv Region; Tetiana Semenova, Deputy Chair of the Regional Council; Oleksandr Sorokyn, Acting Director of the Kyiv Region Health Department; Oleksandr Svitlyi, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Region Health Department.
