The second amateur actor’s performance took place within the “Trans*karta” project. “It seems that we are similar” performance was shown on July 3 in Chernivtsi.

Chernivtsi registered 63,000 forcibly displaced persons, as a result, of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Some of them are people from the LGBT community. There are currently several trans*friendly shelters working in Bukovyna. They are taken care of by NGO Insight, NGO Cohorta, and NGO Alliance Global.

“We invited trans people, allies, medical professionals, and local NGOs to the performance. They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the theater action of the oppressed and see what trials trans* people go through in wartime. Audience feedback and active participation in the interactive format once again proved that forum-theatre is a technique worth using! The next performance will take place in September. The venue will be chosen by us for security reasons,” says Lilia Huk, the joker of the forum theater in the Trans*karta project.

The event was held as part of the “Trans* Map in EECA” project with the support of the The Elton John AIDS Foundation.
