
Performance «Witch-Hunt in Ukrainian Drug Policy”
June 26, 2018 employees of “Convictus” joined the performance “Witch-Hunt”. The participants of the event were people who use drugs, public mans and human rights activists – staged an improvised this performance in order to attract the attention of the government and society to the current state repressive drug policy and the problems that hundreds of thousands of drug addicts in Ukraine face on a daily basis.
The main slogans that sounded today during the action under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine: “Refusal of the” war on drugs “=” witch=hunts “, ” People who live with narcotic dependence have the same rights as all citizens of Ukraine and should not become victims on baseless charges, myths and stereotypes “, ” Ukraine must abandon ineffective and punitive drug policy”, ” Immediately decriminalize the possession of drugs without the purpose of selling for personal use only “, ” Replace the criminal prosecution of drug addicts in the administrative sanctions.
The events in Kiev took place within the framework of the global campaign for changing the repressive drug policy «ПОДДЕРЖАТЬ, НЕ НАКАЗЫВАТЬ» (Support. Do not Punish.), which on this day was held simultaneously in 205 cities and 93 countries! In Ukraine, except Kiev, the action was held in Odessa, Poltava, Sumy and Ivano-Frankivsk. The organizers were: Odessa, Poltava, Sumy and Ivano-Frankivsk.
