The Center for Psychosocial Assistance for women is 1 year old

Exactly a year ago, the Center for Psychosocial Assistance for women, affected by violence “Convictus Ukraine” adopted its first client, a victim of gender-based violence.

During this time, assistance was provided to 72 persons (35 women and 37 children) from all regions of Ukraine. The psychologists of the Center also provide assistance to women and children without providing the services of shelter. In order to ensure effective work, the Center’s Program of Action and the Rehabilitation Program for women have been developed, according to which work is being done. At present, the indicated Programs are received practical approval in other regions of Ukraine. Also, on the basis of the Center, 8 top managers of institutions for the victims of violence from 8 oblasts of Ukraine were upgraded training.

“It is extremely important for us to have support from the local authorities and social services, the territorial community at the location of the institution. We are negotiating for further funding of the Center after the end of donor funding at the expense of budgetary funds”, Yuliya Tsarevska said, Manager of the Project “Mobilization of internally displaced women against domestic and gender-based violence”.

“We express our sincere gratitude to the Embassy of Australia in Ukraine for assistance of arrangement of the Center, the Embassy of the United States in Ukraine for providing humanitarian assistance to women, the La Strada-Ukraine Public Organization, – for the assistance of consultants from the National Hotline for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, Trafficking in Human Beings and gender discrimination, in informing the affected women about the possibility to get assistance at our institution”, – Lidia Kozub said, Director of the Center for Psychosocial Assistance for Victims of Violence.
