The conference on women, who suffered from violence

The final conference of the project «Mobilization of internally displaced women against gender-based and domestic violence» was held. The event was attended by leading experts of the country. Throughout the Conference the participants discussed, exchanged experiences and planned further steps to prevent violence at the regional and national level.

Among the speakers of the event: Ekaterina Levchenko, Government Commissioner for Gender Policy; Stanislav Topolnitsky, Program Manager, European Commission; Evgenia Kuvshinova, Executive Director, Convictus Ukraine, Natalia Balasinovich, Chairperson of the Vasilkovsky District Council, Yulia Tsarevskaya, Project Manager “Mobilization of Female IDPs against Domestic and Gender-Based Violence”, as well as representatives of partner organizations, embassies, community activists.

At the end of the event there was a performance of the forum theater “Are you ready to stop the violence?”. In the play the actors  raise the problem of gender stereotypes in the family, the problems of immigrants, patriarchal attitudes.

The main objective of the project «Mobilization of internally displaced women against gender-based and domestic violence», which lasted for 3 years, is to counter and prevent violence in Ukrainian society  with a focus on internally displaced families. Within this activity the Center for Psychosocial and Social Assistance for Women Affected by Violence was established and functioning. The facility is located  near the town of Kyiv and equipped for the simultaneous stay of 15 people (women with children). The center is running a rehab program, and employs skilled professionals who provide assistance to victims of violence . During the project 116 persons (56 women and 60 children)  received services . The activity is carried out in cooperation with the analytical center “Socioconsulting” and was supported by of the European Commission (Read More).
