Training for journalists “Coverage of violence in the media with a focus on women marginalized by society”

Violence and marginalized women’s society are two topics that, at the same time, almost do not overlap in journalistic materials. But, as studies show, it is women of this category that require special attention, because they can’t always get rehabilitation in the relevant institutions through discriminatory provisions and attitudes towards them specialists. Thus, most centers that help victims of violence do not accept women who are addicted. Another difficulty is the lack of coverage of this problem in the media, because for a long time it has been “tabooed” and “unpopular” among mass media and media representatives.

On 9-10 August,2018 (Thursday-Friday) not so far from Kiev, UCO “Convictus Ukraine” will hold a two-day training workshop for journalists from Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Voliyn, Donetsk, Kharkov, Kiev and Poltava regions. The subject of arrangement is to highlight the problem of violence in the media with a focus on violence against women marginalized by society.

The purpose of the training-workshop is to attract and teaching of leading journalists from the project regions to writing materials on issues about marginalized women which suffering from violence.
